Nature, color, and fabric (my favorites) combine happily for me in quilting and painting. The mountains and waterfalls in Western North Carolina refresh my creative energy and inspire an exciting palette.

In 2001, I took a hand-quilting class near Charleston, SC, and fell in love with all things fabric --- especially quilting. Ever since, I have been trying to maintain a balance. Fabric and paint fascinate me; I love doing and teaching both mediums.

Sewing commissions range from enormous bed-size quilts to smaller pieces like elegant, exotic pillowcases. Both are satisfying in their own way.

Virtually all my work is made from high-thread-count, 100% cotton fabric which is

pre-shrunk, colorfast, and machine-washable (gentle, cold).

Patterns are carefully selected, precisely cut, and either machine stitched or joined and quilted by hand, depending on time constraints.

I am always happy to teach small groups --- either painting or quilting --- and to discuss commissions to fit your needs. Please feel free to contact me.

My early training was in landscape painting; I have exhibited my work  professionally since 1986, primarily in South Florida. Artist residency awards have allowed me to travel and paint in such places as Harper's Ferry, Santa Fe, Washington DC, and lovely Johnson, Vermont. My work is in the collections of corporations, universities, and private patrons.

Virtually all of my landscapes are done in the plein air tradition --- working outdoors, on site. I want to give the viewer a sense of being there,  seeing and hearing the surroundings just as I did.
